Problem

A pond is circular. A straight wooden jetty PQPQ of length 60 m60\,\text{m} is built across the pond with its ends on the bank. A raft is anchored at a point RR on the circumference such that ∠PRQ=90∘\angle PRQ = 90^{\circ}. A cable is to be stretched from PP to RR and then from RR to QQ. (i) Prove that the jetty PQPQ is a diameter of the pond. (ii) If PR=25 mPR = 25\,\text{m}, calculate the length RQRQ. (iii) Taking π=227\pi = \dfrac{22}{7}, find the length of fencing required to enclose the entire circular bank of the pond.
