Problem

A transparent liquid is in contact with a glass block of refractive index 1.521.52. The critical angle for light travelling from the glass into the liquid is found to be 68∘68^{\circ}. (a) Calculate the refractive index of the liquid. (b) A ray inside the liquid strikes the liquid–glass boundary at an angle of incidence of 68∘68^{\circ}. Will total internal reflection occur? Give a reason for your answer.
