Problem

A 4 kg4\,\text{kg} block is pulled up a smooth incline 6 m6\,\text{m} long that makes an angle of 25∘25^{\circ} with the horizontal. The pulling force has a constant magnitude FF and is applied by a light rope that makes an angle of 15∘15^{\circ} above the surface of the incline. (a) Calculate the work done by the weight of the block during the 6 m6\,\text{m} upward displacement along the incline. (b) The block moves with constant speed up the plane. Using this information, determine the magnitude of the pulling force FF. (c) Find the work done by the pulling force during the ascent. (d) Show, by considering the work done by all forces and the changes in potential and kinetic energies, that the total mechanical energy of the block remains unchanged over the motion.
