Problem

Vectors u=5i^−2j^+7k^\mathbf{u}=5\hat{i}-2\hat{j}+7\hat{k} and v=−3i^+6j^−4k^\mathbf{v}=-3\hat{i}+6\hat{j}-4\hat{k} represent two displacements. (a) Compute the vector w=u−v\mathbf{w}=\mathbf{u}-\mathbf{v}. (b) Find the magnitude of w\mathbf{w}. (c) Obtain all three direction angles of w\mathbf{w} correct to one decimal place, taking care to use the correct signs of the components. (d) State in which octant the vector w\mathbf{w} lies.
