Problem

A sinusoidal wave of frequency 40 Hz40\,\text{Hz} travels along a string toward a boundary. Its incident wavelength is 0.12 m0.12\,\text{m}. The transmitted wavelength on the other side of the boundary is measured as 0.08 m0.08\,\text{m}. Determine the ratio v2/v1v_2/v_1 of wave speeds (second string to first string) and state whether the reflected pulse is inverted.
