Problem

In a survey of 80 students it was found that 35 students read newspaper A, 45 students read newspaper B and 20 students read both the newspapers. Let E be the event that a randomly chosen student reads newspaper A and F be the event that he/she reads newspaper B. Answer the following parts. (i) Find P(E)P(E), P(F)P(F) and P(E∩F)P(E\cap F) in simplest fractional form. (ii) Calculate P(E∣F)P(E\mid F). (iii) Calculate P(F∣E)P(F\mid E). (iv) Decide whether the events E and F are independent, giving reason based on the results obtained above.
