Problem

Answer the following questions related to momentum conservation and kinetic energy variation during collisions in an isolated system. (i) State the principle of conservation of linear momentum. (ii) Explain, with reasons, how it is possible for the total linear momentum of a two-body system to remain constant during a collision while the total kinetic energy changes. (iii) In a perfectly inelastic collision, the colliding bodies stick together after impact. Describe qualitatively into which forms the kinetic energy that "disappears" is transformed.
