Problem
A straight conductor of length 0.50m carries a current of 8.0A in a uniform magnetic field of 0.20T.
(i) Calculate the force acting on the conductor when it is perpendicular to the magnetic field.
(ii) The conductor is gradually rotated until the force acting on it becomes exactly half of the value obtained in part (i). Through what angle, measured from the perpendicular position, has the conductor been rotated?
(iii) If the current in the conductor is now doubled while it remains at the angle found in part (ii), at what angle with the magnetic field will the conductor experience the same force as in part (i)?
