Problem

A cricket ball of mass 150 g travelling horizontally towards a batsman at 20 m/s is struck by the bat and returned along the same line at 25 m/s. The bat and ball remain in contact for 2.0 ms and the force exerted by the bat on the ball is constant during this interval. (a) Calculate the magnitude of the impulse imparted to the ball. (b) Determine the magnitude and direction of the force applied by the bat on the ball.
