Problem

Light of wavelength 540 nm540\,\text{nm} produces a stopping potential of 0.40 V0.40\,\text{V} for a certain metal surface. (i) Calculate the threshold wavelength for this metal. (ii) If the same surface is illuminated by light of wavelength 360 nm360\,\text{nm}, determine the expected stopping potential. (iii) Would light of wavelength 700 nm700\,\text{nm} be able to eject photoelectrons from this metal? Give a quantitative reason for your answer.
