Problem

If a chord joining two points whose eccentric angles are α,β\alpha, \beta cut the major axis of an ellipse at a distance dd from the centre. Show that tan⁡(α/2)tan⁡(β/2)=(d−a)/(d+a)\tan(\alpha/2) \tan(\beta/2) = (d - a)/(d + a) , where 2a2a is the length of major axis.
