Problem

A toroid of mean radius s=0.12 ms = 0.12\,\mathrm{m} is closely and uniformly wound with N=750N = 750 turns carrying a steady free current I=0.40 AI = 0.40\,\mathrm{A}. The whole of the toroid is filled with a linear magnetic material of susceptibility χm=899\chi_m = 899 (an effective low-field value for a soft iron; the material is treated as linear throughout). The cross-section is small enough that all quantities may be evaluated at the mean radius. ((a)) Find the relative permeability μr\mu_r of the core. ((b)) Find the magnitude of H\mathbf{H} inside the core at the mean radius. ((c)) Find the magnitude of B\mathbf{B} there. ((d)) Find the magnitude of the magnetisation M\mathbf{M} there.
