Problem

A uniform plane electromagnetic wave in air is described by E(x,t)=120 sin⁡(1.5πx−6πt)  V m−1,E(x,t)=120\,\sin(1.5\pi x-6\pi t)\;\text{V m}^{-1}, where xx is in metres and tt in seconds. Answer the following: (i) Calculate the wavelength λ\lambda and frequency ν\nu of the wave. (ii) Determine the instantaneous value of the electric field at the point x=0.25 mx=0.25\,\text{m} at time t=0.020 st=0.020\,\text{s}. (iii) Find the phase difference between the positions x1=0.25 mx_1=0.25\,\text{m} and x2=0.75 mx_2=0.75\,\text{m} at the same instant t=0.020 st=0.020\,\text{s}.
