Problem

Monochromatic light of wavelength λ=540 nm\lambda = 540\,\text{nm} falls on two parallel slits separated by d=0.15 mmd = 0.15\,\text{mm}. A screen is placed D=2.0 mD = 2.0\,\text{m} away from the slits. Solve the following parts. (i) Find the angular position θ\theta of the 5th5^\text{th} dark fringe with respect to the central maximum. (ii) Calculate the linear distance of this 5th5^\text{th} dark fringe from the central bright fringe on the screen. (iii) Determine the fringe width for the given arrangement.
