Problem

A rectangular park is 50 m50\,\text{m} long and 30 m30\,\text{m} wide. A concrete path of uniform width x mx\,\text{m} is laid all along the inside edge of the park, reducing the grass area to 1080 m21080\,\text{m}^2. Answer the following questions based on this information. (i) Form an equation in xx that represents the area of the remaining grass portion of the park. (ii) Simplify the equation obtained in part (i) and factorise it completely. (iii) Find the possible values of xx from the factorised form. (iv) State which value of xx is acceptable in the context of the problem and explain why.
