Problem

The displacement of particles in a certain sound wave is given by y(x,t)=0.02 sin⁡ (4πx−200πt+π6)y(x,t)=0.02\,\sin\,(4\pi x-200\pi t+\dfrac{\pi}{6}), where xx is in metres and tt in seconds. (a) Determine the wavelength and frequency of the wave. (b) Calculate the phase difference between the particles located at x=0.25 mx=0.25\,\text{m} and x=0.55 mx=0.55\,\text{m} at the instant t=0t=0. (c) For the particle at x=0.25 mx=0.25\,\text{m}, find the smallest positive time after t=0t=0 when its displacement will be equal to the displacement of the particle at x=0.55 mx=0.55\,\text{m} at t=0t=0.
