Problem

Light of wavelength 550 nm550\,\text{nm} is incident on two slits 0.25 mm0.25\,\text{mm} apart, and the resulting interference pattern is observed on a screen 2.0 m2.0\,\text{m} away. A rectangular window of width 30 mm30\,\text{mm} is cut symmetrically about the central maximum (from −15 mm-15\,\text{mm} to +15 mm+15\,\text{mm}). (i) Calculate the total number of complete bright fringes visible within the window. (ii) Calculate the total number of complete dark fringes visible within the same window.
