Problem

On a taut string a sinusoidal wave is observed. At t=0t=0 a crest is located at x=0x=0. After 0.020 s0.020\,\text{s} the same crest is found at x=0.70 mx=0.70\,\text{m}. The displacement amplitude of the wave is 0.02 m0.02\,\text{m} and every element of the string completes 5050 oscillations per second. Answer the following. (i) Determine the speed of the wave from the given observational data. (ii) Calculate its wavelength. (iii) Write the complete equation of the wave in the form y(x,t)=asin⁡(kx−ωt)y(x,t)=a\sin(kx-\omega t) using the numerical values found above (take the phase constant to be zero).
