Problem

A linearly polarized light beam in air has wavelength 550 nm550\,\text{nm} and intensity 12 W/m212\,\text{W/m}^2. The beam passes through an ideal polarizer whose transmission axis is 40∘40^{\circ} to the polarization direction and then immediately enters glass in which its speed is 0.67c0.67c. Calculate (i) the wavelength of the light inside the glass and (ii) the intensity just inside the glass.
