Problem

The displacement–position equation of a wave on a string at t=0t = 0 is y(x,0)=4.0sin⁡ ⁣(πx0.60)y(x,0) = 4.0 \sin\!\left(\dfrac{\pi x}{0.60}\right), where yy is in millimetres and xx in metres. The wave travels in the +x+x direction with a speed of 3.0 m s−13.0\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. (a) Determine the wavelength of the wave. (b) For the particle situated at x=0.45 mx = 0.45\,\text{m}, write the expression for its displacement as a function of time tt. Treat tt in seconds and yy in millimetres. (c) Hence, state the amplitude and time period of the oscillation of this particle.
