Problem

A small motor causes ripples to spread uniformly on the surface of a pond. The motor completes 45 identical up-and-down strokes in 18 s18\,\text{s}. At the position of the motor, the speed of the ripples is measured to be 1.5 m s−11.5\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. Answer the following questions. (i) State the relation between the time period (T)(T) of a wave and its frequency (f)(f). (ii) Calculate the time period of one ripple produced by the motor. (iii) Determine the frequency of the ripples. (iv) Using the value of the ripple speed above, find the wavelength of the ripples produced by the motor.
