Problem

A factory siren emits a steady tone whose time period is 0.008 s0.008\,\text{s}. The speed of sound in the surrounding air is 340 m ⁣/s340\,\text{m\!/s}. Answer the following. (i) Calculate the frequency of the sound produced by the siren. (ii) Determine the wavelength of the sound in air. (iii) If the same siren is blown inside a tunnel where the speed of sound is 332 m ⁣/s332\,\text{m\!/s}, find the new wavelength while the frequency remains unchanged.
