Problem

The curves y=sin⁡xy=\sin x and y=sin⁡3xy=\sin 3x are drawn on the same set of axes. (i) Show algebraically that sin⁡3x=sin⁡x\sin 3x=\sin x whenever x=nπx=n\pi, where n∈Zn\in\mathbb{Z}. (ii) Explain why the points whose xx-coordinates are integral multiples of π\pi are points of intersection of the two curves. (iii) State two other distinct xx-values in the interval 0<x<2π0<x<2\pi at which the curves intersect, giving reasons for your answer.
