Problem

A transverse wave travelling along a stretched string is represented by y(x,t)=0.05sin⁡(1.5x−200t),y(x,t)=0.05\sin\bigl(1.5x-200t\bigr), where xx and yy are in metres and tt is in seconds. (i) Identify the amplitude, the angular wave number and the angular frequency from the given equation. (ii) Using the values obtained in part (i), calculate the wavelength, frequency and speed of the wave. (iii) What would be the effect on the speed of the wave if the amplitude were doubled while keeping the same form of the equation? Justify your answer in one or two sentences.
