Problem

Two acute angles AA and BB have the values cos⁡A=45\cos A=\dfrac{4}{5} and cos⁡B=1213\cos B=\dfrac{12}{13}. Using only trigonometric relationships among the six basic ratios, evaluate a compound tangent expression. (i) Find sin⁡A\sin A, tan⁡A\tan A and sec⁡A\sec A. (ii) Find sin⁡B\sin B, tan⁡B\tan B and sec⁡B\sec B. (iii) Hence determine the exact value of tan⁡A+tan⁡B1−tan⁡Atan⁡B.\dfrac{\tan A+\tan B}{1-\tan A\tan B}.
