Problem

A farmer plans a new rectangular field whose length is 20 m less than twice its breadth. The required area of the field is 8400 m². (i) Set up the quadratic equation satisfied by the breadth of the field. (ii) Solve the equation and hence find the field’s dimensions. (iii) The farmer wants to plant trees along the boundary at equal intervals of 5 m, including the four corner trees. Calculate the total number of trees that can be planted.
