Problem

A ball of mass 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg} is thrown horizontally with speed 6.0 m s−16.0\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. After striking a vertical wall it rebounds with the same speed in the opposite direction. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the ball's momentum before it strikes the wall. (ii) Calculate its kinetic energy before impact. (iii) State the change in (a) kinetic energy, and (b) momentum of the ball due to the collision.
