Problem

While analysing data, a learner writes the work–force relation as W=F×sW = F \times s and then rearranges it to Ws=F\dfrac{W}{s}=F, claiming that the symbol ss cancels the unit “second” present in force. Explain why this cancellation is incorrect, clearly distinguishing between the quantity symbol and the unit symbol.
