Problem

Two plane mirrors M1M_{1} and M2M_{2} are fixed perpendicular to each other. A light ray is first incident on M1M_{1} and, after reflecting from it, strikes M2M_{2}, from which it is again reflected. (a) If the ray is incident on M1M_{1} making an angle of 30∘30^{\circ} with the normal to M1M_{1}, show that the ray emerging after the second reflection is parallel to the original incident ray. (b) Determine the angle made by the ray with the normal to M2M_{2} at the point where it strikes M2M_{2}.
