Problem
A square park has each side 100m long. A drone starts from the south-west corner, flies north along the western side to the north-west corner, then east along the northern side to the north-east corner, and finally flies straight back to its starting point.
(i) Compute the total distance travelled by the drone.
(ii) Find the magnitude of its displacement from the starting point when it is at the north-east corner.
(iii) Calculate its net displacement after completing the entire flight back to the starting point.
(iv) State with reason whether the average velocity for the whole flight is zero or non-zero.
