Problem

A transverse disturbance on a string is described at t=0 st = 0\,\text{s} by y=0.03 sin⁡(4πx) my = 0.03\,\sin(4\pi x)\,\text{m} (with xx in metres). After 0.25 s0.25\,\text{s} the waveform is observed to be y=0.03 sin⁡(4πx−π) my = 0.03\,\sin(4\pi x - \pi)\,\text{m}. (i) State the direction in which the wave is propagating. (ii) Calculate the speed of the wave.
