Problem

Two tuning forks, P and Q, are struck one after the other. Tuning fork P takes 0.004 s0.004\,\text{s} to complete one vibration, while tuning fork Q takes 0.0032 s0.0032\,\text{s} for one vibration. Using this information, answer the questions that follow: (a) Calculate the frequency of each tuning fork. (b) Which tuning fork produces the sound of higher pitch? Give a reason for your answer. (c) By what factor is the pitch higher for the fork identified in part (b)? (Assume pitch is directly proportional to frequency.)
