Problem

A sound wave in air is described by y(x,t)=0.50 cm  cos⁡(2π0.30 x+100πt),y(x,t)=0.50\,\text{cm}\;\cos\Bigl(\tfrac{2\pi}{0.30}\,x+100\pi t\Bigr), where xx is in metres and tt in seconds. (i) Find the amplitude of the wave. (ii) Determine its wavelength. (iii) Calculate the frequency and hence the time period. (iv) Compute the speed with which the wave is travelling in air.
