Problem

Two coherent light sources illuminate a point PP such that the geometric path difference between the sources and PP is fixed at 1.2 μm1.2\,\mu\text{m}. (i) Calculate the phase difference at PP when the wavelength of light is 600 nm600\,\text{nm}. (ii) The wavelength is now changed to an unknown value λ2\lambda_2, resulting in the phase difference at PP increasing by π/3\pi/3 compared to part (i). Determine the value of λ2\lambda_2.
