Problem

Light of wavelength 600 nm600\,\text{nm} is incident normally on a single slit of width 0.10 mm0.10\,\text{mm}. A screen is placed 1.5 m1.5\,\text{m} away from the slit. (i) Calculate the angular position of the first diffraction minimum on either side of the central maximum. (ii) Hence determine the linear width of the central maximum on the screen.
