Problem

A hollow metallic cube is to be weighed for transport purposes. (i) The external edge of the cube is 12 cm12\,\text{cm} and the metal is uniformly 0.6 cm0.6\,\text{cm} thick. Calculate the volume of metal used to make the cube in cm3\text{cm}^{3}. (ii) Convert the volume obtained in (i) to m3\text{m}^{3}. (iii) The density of the metal is 7.9 g cm−37.9\,\text{g cm}^{-3}. Determine the mass of the hollow cube in kilograms.
