Two points on a stretched string that are 0.20 m apart are observed to attain their maximum upward displacement simultaneously each time a wave passes. The time taken by the disturbance to travel a distance of 0.80 m along the string is 0.40 s. The amplitude of the wave is 2.0 cm. At t=0, the particle of the string at the origin is at maximum downward displacement.
(i) Determine the wavelength, frequency, and speed of the wave.
(ii) Write the equation for the transverse displacement y(x,t) (in centimetres), assuming the wave travels in the positive x-direction.
(iii) Using your equation, compute the phase difference between two particles separated by 0.10 m along the string.
